LG046: NEW -Compost as the Key to Regenerative Soil Management
This seminar will focus on the following topics:
- what is regenerative soil management and why should you adopt this approach?
- what are the key tools in the soil-regeneration toolbox?
- How can any landscaper adopt these tools cost-effectively?
- Why is compost the key to this approach and how can you use it as such?
- How can you make your own compost, either as a supplement to purchased compost or as a replacement?
- What role does soil and compost testing play in this approach?
The day will be divided into four sections. The first section will cover the science behind the regenerative approach; the second section will focus on the practices that landscapers can adopt to build healthier soils (including compost use); the third section will deal with soil and compost testing, including do-it- yourself methods that allow for cost-effecting monitoring of progress; and the final section will provide an overview of the logistics and training required to make compost, vermicompost, and compost extracts and teas at your own site.
