LG033: New- Is a Drug Free Workplace a Thing of the Past?
Marijuana creates a buzz for employers. The number of Canadians legally permitted to use marijuana, for medical or recreational purposes, is expected to grow significantly as a result of legislative changes in 2018 that will make it easier to obtain medical marijuana. This will create many new and challenging issues for employers. Join us as we examine employer obligations and best practices for dealing with marijuana use in the workplace.
Topics include:
* Understanding medical marijuana
* What legalization will mean for employers
* At what point is an employer's duty to accommodate triggered?
* Health and safety and WSIB considerations
* Creating an appropriate workplace policy to address drugs and alcohol in the workplace
* Drug and alcohol testing. When can it be used?
