LI028: Irrigation Conservation & Water Stewardship
Seminar Cancelled
Efficient water management is at the forefront of conversations regarding irrigation. The LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) standard is required for many new buildings which call for rain and even storm water be collected in underground cisterns. Stewardship is only one aspect of water management. Conservation must be planned from the start to ensure systems will deliver water efficiently. Reclaimed and reused water, and the collection, storage and laws for their use, will be discussed. Soil, plant, water relationships will be investigated so efficient irrigation schedules can be derived. Smart ET controllers, plus central computer control systems will be reviewed to expose participants to the technical side of scheduling and based weather data. After attending this seminar you will know about controllers, schedules, soil types, water, ET, and alternative water sources.
